ISO 9001:2000
ISO 9000 is a generic
system standard that specifies, in very
broad terms, the necessary components
of a quality management system. ISO 9000's
primary purpose is to provide organizations
with useful internationally recognized
models for operating a quality management
system. ISO 9000 was originally published
in 1987 by the International Organization
for Standardization, a worldwide federation
of national standards bodies, headquartered
in Geneva, Switzerland. ISO 9001:2000
is the most recent revision of the ISO
9000 standard, which replaces the previous
ISO 9000:1994 standard effective December
15, 2003.
